1 Samuel 15:22-23 NASB
Samuel said,
“ Has the Lord as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices
As in obeying the voice of the Lord?
Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,
And to heed than the fat of rams.
“For rebellion is as the sin of divination,
And insubordination is as iniquity and idolatry.
Because you have rejected the word of the Lord,
He has also rejected you from being king.”
Hearing His word and obeying His word is evidence of a believer in His eyes. In Revelation the seven letters to the churches each end with the call to "hear" the words spoken.
Not heeding the word or rejecting the word is likened to idolatry. If one lives by their own words, they have crafted their own body of life in an image other than the life of God. letters to the churches each end with the call to "hear" the words spoken.
