Matthew 10:39 ESV
Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
The Greek word here translated as "life" refers to the life before spiritual birth. It is that life we share with all creatures and plants in creation.
If we transcend our existence in the flesh by placing our trust in our Creator, we will find our true life which God predestined. We lose our life either way, as we are born losers except by the grace of our Father. He has drawn near that we may find Him.
If we do we are reborn as more than conquerors.
