But Rather Division - Luke 12:51-53

Luke 12:51-53 ESV
Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division. For from now on in one house there will be five divided, three against two and two against three. They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother- in- law against her daughter- in- law and daughter- in- law against mother- in- law.”

Jesus tells us here that peace and unity will not be possible on earth with His first coming. The light that dawned on the world reveals the darkness. Light has no part with darkness. Just as light was separated from darkness in the beginning of creation, that division continues today as people are drawn to the light of God, or seek the darkness of the absence of that light.

Efforts at world peace and unity will be temporary at best. The word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ will be increasingly rejected, as will those that hold to this truth.

Peace of the Father and the Son will be present in His church, the body of Christ. Creation of a new earth has begun with new creatures reborn from above and sealed with His Spirit. We have embarked on a journey beyond the natural limitations of earth to the supernatural existence with God.
