God So Loved The World-John 3:16-18

John 3:16-18 ESV
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

The gospel is initiated by God, as is everything. He loved and He gave. This He did by giving Himself, His only Son, for that love. In doing this, He says "I love you!" to each and everyone of us. If we are able to believe this and accept it, we are told we will have life because that's what He wants for us. He has cried out in His love and desire for us on the cross and in His word, but He left us with the choice.

How is it that we are already condemned? Moses was given commandments by God that would reveal our nature and our inability to comply. He did this because He wanted to save us. Only by revealing our need would we have reason to seek Him, to choose Him. He could have given up on mankind at the Garden fall, but He so loved the world. Who can explain love? Who can explain God?
