Before The Foundation

Revelation 13:8-10 ESV
and all who dwell on earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slain. 9 If anyone has an ear, let him hear:
10 If anyone is to be taken captive,
to captivity he goes;
if anyone is to be slain with the sword,
with the sword must he be slain.
Here is a call for the endurance and faith of the saints.


This does not say that we have no choice, but that God knew the end from the beginning. Just as it is written that Christ was slain before the foundation of the world, He in fact did come, was tempted, crucified, and was resurrected much later in that very creation. God seeing this before it happened does not take anything away from it happening.

The sword of truth and justice is active and His word will prevail. Those who return to the Garden will be allowed to pass by the angel wielding the sword at its entrance.

Those not choosing the freedom in Christ will remain captive to death and will be slain.
