Hosea 6:5-6 ESV
5 Therefore I have hewn them by the prophets;
I have slain them by the words of my mouth,
and my judgment goes forth as the light.
6 For I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice,
the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.
The words of His mouth is a sword of truth and judgment. Without truth there can be no judgment, for nothing would be false. There would no basis for knowing anything. Only opinions and impressions remain.
Truth allows for and requires judgment. It separates the light from the darkness. Knowledge is revealed.
Truth and judgment lead us to and give us knowledge of God. He seeks love from us because He is love. He comes in grace and truth.
