Impudence

Luke 11:7-8 AMP
7And he from within will answer, Do not disturb me; the door is now closed, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot get up and supply you [with anything]?
8 I tell you, although he will not get up and supply him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his shameless persistence and insistence he will get up and give him as much as he needs.

I have always understood persistence to be the message here, but I see the Greek word carries the additional sense that the friend does not deserve or merit what is requested. The owner of the house gets up anyway.
This is the case with us.

ἀναίδεια * anaideia * an-ah'ee-die-ah'   ; impudence, that is, (by implication) importunity: - importunity.
