Unwrapping

John 11:44 (The Message)

43-44Then he shouted, "Lazarus, come out!" And he came out, a cadaver, wrapped from head to toe, and with a kerchief over his face.

Jesus told them, "Unwrap him and let him loose."

Jesus states earlier that He does this so that the people know He was sent from God.  Lazarus is brought from dead to life by the power of His word.  Jesus did the same for us through His obedience to God.  Obeying the command of Christ, we are able to leave our destined tomb and enter the light of life in the Son.

We step into a fellowship with others who have responded to His call.  Notice that Jesus then tells the others to help complete the process.  He could have taken care of the unwrapping as well, but He chose to work through the disciples around Him.

The same is true with us.  We are to help unwrap each other,  exposing the riches of God's grace within.  We grow in that liberty, in the giving and receiving.  It is the power of God working in us.  It is mortality putting on immortality.
