Even the Angels

1 Peter 1:10-12 (NIV)
10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care,
11 trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow.
12 It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.

Christ has always been at work. He was, is, and is to come. Through Him all things were accomplished. To Him all things are given. We are part of the glories that follow.

Here Peter speaks of the Spirit of Christ touching and guiding the prophets before He entered into the very world He had created. A distinction is drawn between the Spirit of Christ and the Holy Spirit. This is part of the mystery of the Father Who is One, the One Who calls Himself “I AM”.

We too will be distinct even as we are one in the Lord. Infused with the Holy Spirit we do not fade away from the bright light of His presence, but that light brings forth our true self.

We are honored by this gift and experience. Even the angels would like to be a part of this plan. There must be a reason. How glorious it must be.
