Doing Right

1Peter 2:11-12
2:11 Dear friends, I urge you as foreigners and exiles to keep away from fleshly desires that do battle against the soul, 2:12 and maintain good conduct among the non-Christians, so that though they now malign you as wrongdoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God when he appears. NetBible

When we accept salvation from Christ we move from being foreigners to heaven to being foreigners in this world, from the realm of death to the realm of life, our status changes. We are given the gift of new life and spirit. Though we are given a new spirit, we remain in these fleshly bodies. It is here the transforming takes place by the power of the Holy Spirit. Our desires and temptations are met with the strength and guidance of that Spirit. We begin to change as we seek and walk with Christ. His ways become our ways as we enter into the mind and heart of Jesus, as He has entered ours.

We do right by doing right. Right is made known by His Word and the Holy Spirit. We can recognize this by the presence of love and peace. This is what non-Christians should see. This is how we glorify God.
