Matthew 15:10-11 (NASB Strong's)
10 After Jesus called the crowd to Him, He said to them, “Hear and understand. 11 It is not what enters into the mouth that defiles the man, but what proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man.”
What proceeds out of the mouth comes from the heart and nature of man. This is a dark place without the light of God. In this state we are defiled by an impure heart.
It is through hearing and understanding that the light will begin to enter that darkness. That word comes through the Holy Spirit. He will cleanse all defilement of man so he can enter the light of Christ.
