The Power Of Repentance

Luke 17:1-4 (ESV Strong's)

1 And he said to his disciples, “Temptations to sin are sure to come, but woe to the one through whom they come! 2 It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were cast into the sea than that he should cause one of these little ones to sin. 3 Pay attention to yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him, 4 and if he sins against you seven times in the day, and turns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive him.”

Temptations to sin are sure to come, to us and through us. We have been justified by the blood of Jesus, but we will continue to sin. We remain in bodies of the natural flesh until our spirits find release in the presence of the Lord. We are no longer chained to this body of death, for we have been made alive in His Spirit. It’s a freedom that is truly free, to daily choose Him and His life.

We repent to enter the kingdom of heaven. We repent and ask for forgiveness because we are in the kingdom of heaven.

We are not sinners when we confess our sins and repent before the Lord. He will forgive us because His grace has no bounds. We are cleansed from all unrighteousness. We have His word on it.

Matthew 18:21-22

Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy-seven times.

1 John 1:9-10 (ESV Strong's)

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
