Genesis 25:27 (ESV Strong's)
When the boys grew up, Esau was a skillful hunter, a man of the field, while Jacob was a quiet man, dwelling in tents.
“Quiet” does not fully convey the meaning of the Hebrew word - תָּם ṯom; from 8552; complete; usually (morally) pious; specifically, gentle, dear: — coupled together, perfect, plain, undefiled, upright.
We might compare Esau with Adam’s son Cain and Jacob with Abel. Cain preferred to do things his own way, a man of the ground. Esau had no regard for his birthright, a man of the field. Jacob and Abel would prove acceptable and obedient to the Lord. Esau and Cain would choose a different path.
The phrase, “dwelling in tents” may hint of tabernacling with the Lord.
