Romans 1:16-17 ESV
The Righteous Shall Live by Faith
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”
Why is there a possibility for Paul to be ashamed of the gospel? It is because it is foolishness to the world. It doesn't make sense without the working of the Holy Spirit. Paul does not suffer doubt about this for he knows this to be the truth and power of God. He would be ashamed if he failed to proclaim the good news.
Though the Jews received gospel first, it was the Gentiles who first believed. The first become last and the last become first.
Faith is the way to God and this is God's plan for man. It is the way for us to avail ourselves of the righteousness of God, as it is written.
