Let It Be So Now

Matthew 3:13-15 ESV
13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him. 14 John would have prevented him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” 15 But Jesus answered him, “Let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he consented.

To fulfill God's plan, all righteousness, this baptism needed to take place. Both men had a role to play and a mission to perform. They shared in the obedience to God to the call on their lives. Theirs was a unique service to our Father's will, just like our service is unique to us in our time and place. It is for our salvation and God's glory in the end.

There is much we don't understand now, but we know enough to trust God. Let faith and love be our guide as we wait on The Lord.

Let it be so now.
