By Its Light -Revelation 21:22-27

Revelation 21:22-27 ESV
And I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb. 23 And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb. 24 By its light will the nations walk, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it, 25 and its gates will never be shut by day—and there will be no night there. 26 They will bring into it the glory and the honor of the nations. 27 But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false, but only those who are written in the Lamb's book of life.

The temple of old has served its purpose and is no longer needed. A structure of approach is useless for God is already present with His people. There is no distance between the two.
The city itself becomes the temple, God's dwelling place. The light of God still finds expression in the Lamb. That light will not only light the city with God's glory, but will shine forth on the nations. They have been cleansed and walk by that light. They are of the earth, but bring their glory and honor through gates that always remain open.
The purpose of Eden is realized. God's presence is once again on earth and His children walk in His light. Adam and Eve were commanded to be fruitful and multiply and subdue the earth. The second Adam fulfilled that command.

John 4:21-24
Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. 22 You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Isaiah 60:19
The sun shall be no more
your light by day,
nor for brightness shall the moon
give you light;
but the Lord will be your everlasting light,
and your God will be your glory.

Isaiah 60:3
And nations shall come to your light,
and kings to the brightness of your rising.

Isaiah 60:11-12
Your gates shall be open continually;
day and night they shall not be shut,
that people may bring to you the wealth of the nations,
with their kings led in procession.
12 For the nation and kingdom
that will not serve you shall perish;
those nations shall be utterly laid waste.

Isaiah 52:1-2
1 Awake, awake,
put on your strength, O Zion;
put on your beautiful garments,
O Jerusalem, the holy city;
for there shall no more come into you
the uncircumcised and the unclean.
2 Shake yourself from the dust and arise;
be seated, O Jerusalem;
loose the bonds from your neck,
O captive daughter of Zion.

John 10:30
I and the Father are one.”

Joel 3:17
17 “So you shall know that I am the Lord your God,
who dwells in Zion, my holy mountain.
And Jerusalem shall be holy,
and strangers shall never again pass through it.
