I Commit My Spirit

Luke 23:46 ESV
46 Then Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit! ” And having said this he breathed his last.

Mark 15:34
34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani? ” which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? ”
It is His human spirit He commits to God the Father on the cross, not the Holy Spirit. It was His human spirit which was sacrificed to death, His life given instead of our life taken. The Holy Spirit departed as the sinless one became our sin. It is because of that act of love that Jesus tells us He is with us always, that this is even possible.
