Matthew 5:15-16 (MSG)
15 If I make you light-bearers, you don't think I'm going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I'm putting you on a light stand.
16 Now that I've put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you'll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.
We have been given the light. God intends for us to let His light shine from our new life, that the fire of His Holy Spirit within us might warm those around us, even spreading that fire to hearts struggling with darkness.
Wherever we find ourselves, that is the place we are to shine. We are faithful and show our thanks to God in that way. It may not always be clear how the Spirit is working, but we must be careful not to be a hindrance to the flow of His love and grace. If we hold back we are may be in danger of resisting God.
Be generous as He is generous
Be light as He is light
