Very Good

Gen 1:26-27
26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning — the sixth day.

In the creation account each day’s work was viewed by God and pronounced good. On the sixth day, after adding man, creation was finished and God saw that it was very good.

Man alone is fashioned in the image of God. The earth was made for and given to man. Man was made for God. Later in the story, man turns away from God in disobedience. Creation is marred with that act.

Much later in the story another man comes, begotten not created. This One, Jesus, is the exact image of God, His Son. This man obeys God perfectly and is given authority over all things. He will restore creation as God intended. Once again, it will be very good.
