Forgotten

Jeremiah 50:6 (NIV)
6 "My people have been lost sheep; their shepherds have led them astray and caused them to roam on the mountains. They wandered over mountain and hill and forgot their own resting place.

Jeremiah 50:6 (MSG)
6 "My people were lost sheep. Their shepherds led them astray. They abandoned them in the mountains where they wandered aimless through the hills. They lost track of home, couldn't remember where they came from.

Jeremiah 50:6 (NKJV)
6 "My people have been lost sheep. Their shepherds have led them astray; They have turned them away on the mountains. They have gone from mountain to hill; They have forgotten their resting place.

How easy it is to forget. How easy it is to get lost in our own world, our own thoughts and struggles. It is so easy to take our lead from the things we see in this world that seem desirable or right. We can follow after the world and one day realize that we don’t know where we are.

When we forget our true source and resting place, we lose our bearings. We are subject to wandering aimlessly.

God is our resting place. When we remember this we know who we are. We have the peace of knowing where we are and where we are going, both are in the boundless embrace of our loving Father.
