Your Own Salvation - Philippians 2:12-13

Philippians 2:12-13 ESV

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

This does not mean we lose our will. God works in us through the Holy Spirit. We are led by the Spirit, not overcome. It is not the Spirit that becomes more than a conqueror. It is those that follow Him to end.

We work out our salvation. Jesus has shown the way. He is the way and that by the Spirit. He said He would never leave us. He has kept that promise in giving the Holy Spirit.

There is nothing we can do to save ourselves. Our salvation relies totally on the mercy and grace of the Son.

On the other hand, our sanctification does rely on our efforts as we are led by and follow the Holy Spirit. We are to walk with Him. He is on the move. So should we. It is our will that will bring us to His will and work.
