My Lord And My God - John 20:28-29

John 20:28-29 ESV

Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

There is a difference expressed by Thomas when he calls Jesus Lord and God. “Lord” implies a more personal relationship and interaction than the term “God.”

Israel worshiped the one and true God. We now worship our Lord and Father. Israel would be the people of God. We are the family of God.

Thomas exclaims they are one and the same.
