Division - Luke 12:49-53

Luke 12:49-53 ESV
“I came to cast fire on the earth, and would that it were already kindled! I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how great is my distress until it is accomplished! Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division. For from now on in one house there will be five divided, three against two and two against three. They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”

Genesis began with God bringing order and light to creation. He did this through division, separating light from darkness, and earth from the sea.

The Holy Spirit is before us. The fire is the Spirit which baptizes us into the kingdom of heaven as sons of God. He unites us with God, but divides us from the world.

Creation is ongoing. Each believer is new earth revealed from the sea of unbelief and no longer walks in darkness, but becomes part of the light of the world.

At some point the sea will be no more and there will no more night.
