Thrown Down - Matthew 24:1-2

Matthew 24:1-2 ESV
Jesus left the temple and was going away, when his disciples came to point out to him the buildings of the temple. But he answered them, “You see all these, do you not? Truly, I say to you, there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.”

Just as God had already departed from the temple, Jesus leaves as well. When his disciples drew His attention to the temple buildings, His answer reflected God's view and judgement on His old dwelling place. The old temple would be destroyed, making way for a new temple which would be the body of Christ. The old stones are thrown down and new stones are raised to replace the old temple. It is built from the living stones of the saved into the new dwelling place of God.

He turns these stones into the bread of life, for He is the cornerstone and we will be like Him.
