They Ran - Acts 19:13-16

Acts 19:13-16 NIV
Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon- possessed. They would say, “In the name of the Jesus whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out.” Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. One day the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?” Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding.

The demon knew Jesus was the Christ. It knew that Paul was a follower of Jesus.

These Jews used the name of Jesus, but had not believed in His name. They had not taken His name for their own. They had not comprehended or known the spiritual reality of their situation. As such, they were ill prepared for this encounter.

Since the Jews did not have The Lord with them, they were no match for the evil spirit. They were overpowered and subjected to the dominion of Satan.

It is critical to know what we know. If we don't have a relationship with Christ, we are subjects of the prince of this world. There will be no place to run.
