Two Resurrections -John 5:29

John 5:29 ESV
and come out, those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection.

There are two resurrections mentioned here. We are resurrected with Him when we awake spiritually, reborn as we place our trust in Him. We rise from the dead and enter the kingdom of God. This could be argued to be the resurrection of life and the first resurrection.

In the second resurrection, the dead arise from the grave, the alive and dead alike. Those who have done good (believe and obey God), will rise to eternal life. The rest will face judgement and will account for their deeds. It is the difference of light and darkness, of day and night.

Daniel 12:2-5
And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever. 4 But you, Daniel, shut up the words and seal the book, until the time of the end. Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”
5 Then I, Daniel, looked, and behold, two others stood, one on this bank of the stream and one on that bank of the stream.

Matthew 25:46
And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

Acts 24:15
having a hope in God, which these men themselves accept, that there will be a resurrection of both the just and the unjust.

Romans 2:6-11
He will render to each one according to his works: 7 to those who by patience in well- doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; 8 but for those who are self- seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury. 9 There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek, 10 but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek. 11 For God shows no partiality.

Galatians 6:8
For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
