The Dead Will Hear -John 5:25-28

John 5:25-28 ESV
“Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. 26 For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself. 27 And he has given him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of Man. 28 Do not marvel at this, for an hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice

Hearing or listening can be a hard thing to accomplish. We can all attest to this fact from personal experience, whether we were trying to be understood or missed the point of someone else.

With all the noise around us in today's world, trying to make sense of what we hear and discerning what is true can be difficult, though that appears to have always been the case. Our own beliefs and experience can pose a barrier to the realities around us. Even the words of life can appear as foolishness to the heart not sensitive to the Spirit of God. It is through the power and will of God that it is even possible. He seeks us and calls to us. We, though dead, are able to awake to life beyond what we can imagine.

We all were in tombs before He came. He calls us all to rise and leave the darkness behind, to enter the light of the bright morning star. He leads us to green pasture and still water. His voice guides us to the Father and beckons us home.

John 8:45-47
But because I tell the truth, you do not believe me. 46 Which one of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? 47 Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God.”

John 9:27
He answered them, “I have told you already, and you would not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you also want to become his disciples?”

John 8:43
Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear my word.

Acts 10:42-43
And he commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead. 43 To him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”

John 6:60-61
60 When many of his disciples heard it, they said, “This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?” 61 But Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples were grumbling about this, said to them, “Do you take offense at this?
