Rev 1:9 I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.
It is the word of God that is given to Jesus to be given to us. The testimony of Jesus is the word of God. They are of the same essence, just as the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost speak of the One God.
John is chosen to witness these visions, just as he was chosen as a disciple and witness of the man Jesus. John describes himself, not as a special and privileged person of rank, but as a brother and companion to all those following after the Master. He speaks not of riches, honor, and glory, but of the suffering and patient endurance that are common to the experience of the Christian.
God used this time and place to deliver this message to John. There is no time or circumstance which God is unable to redeem or use. The same applies to any and all of us.
