Genesis 22:7 NIV
Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, "Father?" "Yes, my son?" Abraham replied. "The fire and wood are here," Isaac said, "but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?"The burnt offering represented complete surrender of the worshipper and acceptance by God. Above all, Abraham placed his faith and trust in God, not in what his reason told him , not by what he could see, and not in the emotions that must have been been raging inside. He placed future in the hands of the One outside himself. He had done this before, but this was the ultimate demonstration of his faith.
God would provide the lamb for Abraham. He would later provide the Lamb for all mankind. Our surrender is answered by His acceptance. The final "burnt offering" ensures our salvation. All He asks is to believe.
