Another Sort Of Peace

Genesis 17:1 (New International Version)

1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to him and said, "I am God Almighty ; walk before me and be blameless.
2 I will confirm my covenant between me and you and will greatly increase your numbers."
Ishmael would be the father of many people, but there was no covenant between him and God.  God did not say to Ishmael "walk before me and be blameless".  It was spoken that he would be hostile, a wild donkey of a man.  As his numbers increased, so did hostility and hate.  Ishmael mocked the birth and appearance of Isaac. That same spirit continues today as many seek to eliminate Isaac's seed.  For them, the only peace will be the death and destruction of the other.
