Take Away The Stone

John 11:41-44 ESV

So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this on account of the people standing around, that they may believe that you sent me.” When he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out.” The man who had died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.”

Each believer is like Lazarus who rose, left the grave, and walked into the light. Jesus calls out to us and life is given to those who answer and respond. We come out of the tomb still wrapped in our grave clothes. Jesus tells us in the light to help each other remove those old garments and put on Christ. This happens over time and with effort.

Each of us are a unique expression of His light and life. We are part of the prism of creation through which the light of the Lord is seen in its full glory.
