1 Corinthians 3:10-15 Each One's Work

1 Corinthians 3:10-15 ESV

According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it.
For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw—
each one's work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done.
If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward.
If anyone's work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.

Paul presents a foundation for our life, which is Jesus Christ. The foundation is the same for everyone, just as He is the vine of life.

Each person will be judged according to the life lived and the fruit born by that branch. The good news is we won't be judged by the actions of another. The bad news could be the same news. There will be no one else to blame.

We stand with the Lord, but we also stand before the Lord. We will face the refining fire of His gaze. Nothing will remain except the fruit of His Spirit.

Even if everything is burned up, that person will pass through the fire, for the Lord will finish the work He has begun. Everyone who places their faith in God's Son and perseveres in that faith will be saved.

We will regret showing up empty handed.
