Filled - Acts 2:1-4

Acts 2:1-4 ESV
The Coming of the Holy Spirit
When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.

They were sitting together in one place. In this way the church was established and in this way the church remains, bound by the one Spirit. The same spirit that hovered over the deep at creation comes to rest on each of the disciples. A new creation is unfolding. As the Spirit remained on Jesus at his baptism, so did the Spirit remain on these ones to enter the kingdom of heaven.

The house is filled with the Spirit, A different Greek word is used to describe the filling of the disciples. Both imply a completion, the fulfillment of prophecy uttered long ago. The word of God will not return void.

We continue to experience the filling from heaven and speak the spirit words of the Holy Spirit as divided tongues speaking in the unified tongue of the Spirit.
