Genesis 3:1
Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?”
We understand from this verse that Satan is a beast of the field from the perspective of God. Any man or angel who lives apart from the light of God may be considered in this manner. In Revelation, a beast rises from the waters of mankind filled with that darkness.
The serpent opens the door for Eve to question and doubt the word of God. Incomplete understanding and faulty interpretation can undermine our response to the Lord and to others. This is fertile ground for deception to take root and grow.
What we say and how we say it can reveal our maturity in Christ.
Why did he choose to speak to the woman?
Maybe because she’s the mother of the living from whom would come the light of the world.
