John 1:29 (New King James Version) 29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
The Old Testament gives meaning to John's declaration. God's revelation through His chosen people brought sin into sharp focus, and the resulting distance from our loving God. That same Holy and Loving God provided the way of salvation through His own Son.
He reaches across the distance using the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. We know what is meant by "The Lamb of God". We come to understand justice and righteousness in the commands of the law. The time was right for grace and truth. Behold!
