Genesis 3:21 (New International Version)
21 The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them.
This prefigures Christ. We put on Christ as we believe and abide with Him. We enter the body of Christ and are raised with Him. We thus come into the presence of the Lord.

Unity of what? I don't understand
Union with God and fellowship with each other. There is one body in Jesus Christ. That is the unity and peace we seek, but it lies beyond the grasp of man. Through the Spirit we are united. He gives peace, not as the world gives, but as only comes from the Father.
