The calling and election of Israel was as a people. They were charged with bringing the light of God into the world.
The calling and election of His disciples is personal. We are charged with being the light of God in the world.
We are grafted into the tree of life whose roots are in the promised land and whose branches extend into the kingdom of heaven.
