Mark 4:5-6 (ESV)
5 Other seed fell on rocky ground, where it did not have much soil, and immediately it sprang up, since it had no depth of soil. 6 And when the sun rose, it was scorched, and since it had no root, it withered away.
The seed of the word can be received by the earth of man, but not take root and flourish. The power of the seed is more than enough for salvation, but it takes the man to tend to the ground of the garden, to make straight the way of the Lord in his life. He is the root of Jessie and the tree of life.
