John 1:12-13 (NASB)
12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
We do nothing to be born. We have no choice in the matter. We arrive in the flesh of man which is plagued by sin and its desires, and therefore apart from God. While it feels good, it is like grass that prospers for a season then dies.
Our salvation is up to us. It is a choice we make. To be reborn is to rise above the dictates and chains of the flesh, and into the life of God. It is His will that we do so, but it depends on our will to receive Him. He has made a way and it is up to us to walk in that way to seek and be like Him. To be reborn is the doorway out of the death of the world and into the life of the kingdom of heaven.
