Threw It In The Water - Exodus 15:22-25

Exodus 15:22-25 ESV

Then Moses made Israel set out from the Red Sea, and they went into the wilderness of Shur. They went three days in the wilderness and found no water. When they came to Marah, they could not drink the water of Marah because it was bitter; therefore it was named Marah. And the people grumbled against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?” And he cried to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a log, and he threw it into the water, and the water became sweet.

There the Lord made for them a statute and a rule, and there he tested them,

After three days in the wilderness, the divine number and how many days Jesus was in the tomb, all they found to drink was bitter water. The Lord shows Moses a log, or tree, which he threw into the water and the water became sweet.

The Lord would use another tree in the bitter waters of mankind that sweetened those waters into living water.

Jesus drank gall, or bitter water, on the cross which represented the bitter water of our sin. He would change the waters of mankind from bitter to sweet. God threw the cross into our midst with His Son hung from its branches for this purpose.

There is now water to drink in our wilderness journey and it is the living water from the throne of God. It is sweet indeed!
